We have an exciting and rare opportunity to join our Junior School, taking responsibility for the strategic direction and support for SEND.

Working closely with our Infant SENCO, we are looking for a qualified teacher with a passion for enabling all children to thrive and achieve as independent learners.

Whether you are aspiring to be, or already qualified as a SENCO, you will join our SLT and DSL Team and take the lead in supporting our children with additional needs and their families.

As a community, our schools commit to ‘living life in all its fullness’ every day. Although 2 separate schools, we see ourselves as one whole school team and are proud to provide a broad, enriching curriculum for all our children, every year.

The SENCO role is 3 days a week. We are open to a flexible arrangement of either:

• 3 days a week (non-class based)

• 5 days a week (2 days class-based, 3 days SENCO)

Ideally, we would love you to start in September 2024 but we are prepared to wait until January 2025 for the right candidate.

We can offer you:

• a dedicated, supportive and happy team of people who love working and learning together across our schools

• access to a wider community for support and networking across The Good Shepherd Trust (including strong Central advice and support for Inclusion and Additional Needs)

• support for your own continued professional development

You have to see us in action to appreciate what a special place Ottershaw is, please come and visit. We promise you won’t be disappointed.

Job requirements:

• QTS

• A good honours degree

• Team spirit and enthusiasm

• Empathy and strong communication skills

• Experience of successfully supporting children with additional needs

Preferred, but not essential:

• NASENCO Award (or started studying for this qualification)

• Up to date working knowledge of Surrey procedures and services for accessing support in school
